The ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU ) might be called off in a week time, After a 12hour meeting on thursday in Abuja, ASUU finally agreed to consider a proposal from the federal government and suspend their strike which has been on for about 25days now.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said
ASUU’s demands have been addressed and the union will get back to the government in a week after consulting with its principals.
According to Premium Times, The national president of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, told journalists after the meeting that though the proposal presented by the government was accepted, The Union will take the proposal to their members and get back to the government in a week.
“Now we have some concrete proposal that we will take back to our members for consideration,” he said.
