Francis uzoho was stretched out of the pitch after suffering a nasty injury against Cadiz despite being hammered 5 goals to one.
He will be a doubt for the next international match against South Africa.
The first choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Francis Uzoho has emerged as a huge doubt for Nigeria in their next competitive fixture after suffering a nasty injury in Elche’s 1-5 loss against Cadiz.
Uzoho kept back to back clean sheets in his first two games for Elche in the Spanish second division but his reputation took a big hit yesterday when he picked the ball out of his net five times against Cadiz.
He left the stadium in a stretcher after the game due to an injury he picked up in his attempt to save the effort which led to the goal. The pain prevented him from breathing normally bu he had to endure until the final whistle.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that he was immediately transferred to San Rafael de Cadiz clinic where he underwent X-rays scan to ascertain the severity of the injury.
Although he returned back with the rest of his teammates to Elche after the game, the club later announced that more tests will be conducted on him later today even though he can now breathe properly.
The test will go a long way in determining his availability for Nigeria when they take on South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie later this month and also Uganda in a friendly game.
