2019 Grammy Awards nominations were announced this Friday morning.
Female American rapper Cardi B is up for Album of the Year for Invasion Of Privacy plus Record of the Year for “I Like It.” She has five nominations in total, more than any other woman this year, and will also compete for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance (“Be Careful”), and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her Maroon 5 collaboration “Girls Like You.”
Though the two most nominated artists are male: Kendrick Lamar with eight nominations and Drake with seven
Five of the eight acts nominated for Best Album at the 2019 awards are women with H.E.R., Brandi Carlisle, Kacey Musgraves, and Janelle Monáe competing alongside the Black Panthersoundtrack and Drake’s Scorpion plus Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys.
Kendrick Lamar’s eight nominations are in the categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance (“King’s Dead”), plus two for Best Rap Song (“King’s Dead” and Jay Rock collab “WIN”), plus Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media (“All the Stars” with #SZA from #BlackPanther).
Behind him is $Drake who is nominated for: Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year (“God’s Plan”), Best Rap Song (“God’s Plan” and “Sicko Mode”), and two for Best Rap Performance (“Nice for What” and “Sicko Mode”).
